I began experimenting with psychedelics in high school. Whilst this was mainly a recreational process at that time, it opened my eyes to what would become an enduring interest in the potential of these medicines. My first experience of a formal plant medicine ceremony was in 2011 and from there I never looked back. I have gone on to work extensively with ayahuasca, dieting in the Shipibo tradition, and with peyote in the Native American Church and Wixarika traditions, also participating in Vision Quest and Sun Dance ceremonies. I also have significant experience with mushrooms and San Pedro, MDMA, LCD, 2CB and some experience of iboga.

Due to my desire to overcome my own experiences of depression and anxiety, and a fascination with human experience, I studied psychology at Sydney University and Macquarie University, and practised as a psychologist in Australia, whilst also learning somatic healing meditation practices and exploring a wide range of healing modalities. I then moved to the UK, completing further training at Kings College London and worked in the National Health Service (NHS).

I was mentored for many years by a personal meditation guide and have participated in Vipassana silent retreats, which have been a profoundly transformative process. I centre my practice around a deep experience in the power of focused mindful awareness to change our state of mind, emotion and to regulate our nervous system. I have also studied Gabor Matés’ Compassionate Inquiry, Trauma and Somatics and Magnetic Mind Coaching.

I began working as an integration coach in 2016 at Temple of the Way of Light in Peru, and joined Soltara in 2019. I also work with Body of Prana and Intertwining Medicines. I developed a program called ‘Mindfulness and the Medicine’ which has run successfully at various retreats in Peru. It is clear from feedback from the maestros and facilitators, that this approach leads to a much more grounded atmosphere in ceremonies, because people have a sense of confidence about how to navigate the experience.

In preparing for ceremonies I support people in addressing any questions or anxieties they have about what might happen, help them set intentions, understand how intentions relate to the experience, and provide tools and strategies for how to focus well during the ceremonies themselves.

During the integration phase I help people continue working with any onflow of energies, emotions or healing processes that have been initiated during the ceremonies. I also help them reflect on what the experience showed them to be important and how they can live their life more in alignment with that insight and sense of purpose. I also help them continue to learn and apply strategies to maintain a good state of mind and to harness the energy of the medicine to boost that.

Testimonials

Sean is patient, he is kind, and extremely compassionate, and he is able to hold space for the most of intense experiences within the ceremony space.

-

Felix Durden

Right away Sean helped me develop skills to recognize, face and work through the trauma I experienced and these are precisely the skills I continue to use in ceremony, and life. Because of Sean’s guidance I was as prepared as I could have been to sit with the medicine for the first time, as a trauma survivor, which you know is no small feat.

-

J.C.

Sean offers the best of both worlds—a deep commitment to the plant medicine path and a grounded approach rooted in psychology and mindfulness. His compassion, patience, and skill in guiding others through intense and transformative moments are invaluable. Every guest who works with him feels profoundly grateful for the wisdom and tools he shares, which extend far beyond the ceremonial context.
